Boundary Layer Turbine (Patent Pending)

Nikola Tesla patented the bladeless turbine in 1913, which uses disks rather than blades. Also known as a boundary layer turbine, it exploits the boundary layer effect pioneered by Ludwig Prandtl.

Arguably one of  the most important inventors in history, Tesla is also one of the most under-appreciated. Among other things, this unsung genius was responsible for giving the world AC power systems, AC motors, the fluorescent light bulb, and radio transmission. Though his accomplishments are vast, Tesla saw his turbine as his greatest invention.

Despite being influential at the time, Tesla was not able to see his turbine gain widespread acceptance in part due to metallurgical limitations at the time of its invention. More recent experimenters using Tesla's original design have not been able to achieve satisfactory results using sufficiently large turbines without damage to disks.

Our patents pending technologies increase durability and improve performance.  Our prototype turbine uses seven 24 inch laser cut blades weighing a combined 160 pounds (not including the frame). Any number of disks can be used from 2 to 32.  Enclosing the turbine within our low friction outer containment case with inlet valve will further enhance performance. The simplicity of the disks allow construction costs to be a fraction of those for conventional turbines of similar size.

More durable than  conventional turbines!

A fraction of the cost to manufacture and maintain!!
