In 2016, Clyde Igarashi, in collaboration with the company's advisor, Dr. Victor Cheboxarov, successfully secured a patent for a concept of a large-scale Wave Energy Converter. This innovative concept enables the resonant conversion of mechanical energy into electricity. Despite facing many hurdles associated with such large-scale projects, Dr. Cheboxarov remains committed to this promising technology's continuous research and development, alongside his other projects at his university.

In 2022 Mr. Igarashi formed a wave energy venture for smaller scale applications. Together with advisor, former Hawaii Governor John Waihee, the project’s focus is the development of compact, modular systems that can be rapidly deployed and scaled.

While researching wave energy conversion technologies, the group also developed tertiary technologies necessary for advancement. Prime Movr LLC was formed in 2023 to further develop one of the most important of these – a generator for low torque and low speed applications. The group quickly realized that such a technology is applicable to other renewable energy fields, beyond wave energy conversion.
